ADR: Day 2 - Port McDonnell to Port Elliot

Like all good plans, mine to blog at the end of each day were foiled by poor Internet connections and a touch of exhaustion, so I'll catch up in days to come.

Day 2 was a shorter day, with a sleep in and departure time of 8am from Pt McDonnell and a final destination of a beachside back packers on the coastal town of Port Elliot for accommodation.

Not the only gay in the village

My heart leapt into my mouth. Did you say gay sportbike rider? You mean, I'm not the only one in the village?

A good few weeks ago now, I’m reading one of my favourite websites Ride Apart, which I think is the best motorcycle blog/websites coming out of the US of A now, independent and opinionated, open and inclusive.

ADR 8 Day 1 - Melbourne to Port McDonnell

It's finally here! Wahoo! The 8th annual Australia Day Ride.

This year we started off with a pack of 13 riders and kicked off early from Melbourne with the final night destination being Port McDonnell on the coast of SA.

ADR: Day 3 - Port Elliot to Mildura

Today started out hot and got progressively hotter until it felt like riding on molten lava while trapped inside firefighter's gear.

At 110 km an hour the wind was creating the impression of wearing Dr Who's scarf that had been cooked in the microwave on High for 2 mins.

It was hot.

Stocking my 'Dream Shed'

It's important to have dreams, they keep us pushing ourselves to be better.

This week I'm doing a response to BanditRiders ultimate ‘Dream Shed’.

After some confusion over terminology around sheds and garages I decided to publish my list too.

Guest Post: Winter Service for Summer

This is a guest post written by Brett Ladbrook from NZ who rides a modified GSX with sidecar.

Well it’s that time of the year again.

Winter. Mornings of -2 or -3 degree frosts, wicked southerlies and the occasional snow flurry. Rego and WOF has run out so time to take the bike off the road and give it a winter service.

Who you callin' fugly?

This is a guest post written by Adam aka The Experimental Ghost.

G'day! When you meet someone for the first time, that first 30 seconds can make or break any hope of a friendship you might have with said person. I ought to know, I've scared off quite a few people...
Can't think why though?

12 reasons to ride a motorbike to work

I've been riding to work pretty solid for the last 8+ years and I wouldn't change that for quids, so I put together my top reasons for riding to work every day.

Let's check em out.

What does life after a Ducati Multistrada look like?

If I have a hobby I’d have to say it is flipping cars and bikes; I’ve lost count of how many cages I’ve bought and sold in my life, but it would reckon it to be more than 20, and at least as many motorbikes.

Flipping cages is easier than flipping bikes, I can usually spot a bargain and make something out of it after a tenure in my possession and have done so with many of my cars.

14 classic rookie mistakes

Everyone has to start somewhere.

Whether you got started on a farm when you were a kid, or your first bike was a scooter until you passed your LAMS, everyone has to start somewhere.

And how do we learn? We make mistakes and we do stoopid things.

Here is a list of simple rookie motorcycling mistakes that you can study and master.

ADR: Day 4 - Mildura to Melbourne

This is the last leg and possibly the worst part of the whole journey.

You see rural South Australia and Country Victoria are joined up by boring slabs of freeways.

It's flat. It's straight. It's a motorcyclists test of spirit that just has to be done.

Brothers, motorcycling is in our blood

I've been trying to find old photo's of me on my first motorbikes.

I can't remember exactly how old I was when I got my first one, thanks bloody stupid MS memory.
